Question Necromance/?

during the last BWE i played as a necro/ranger. I was used a lot of minions and was a ranger for the pet. I didn't have to time to experiment with other necro/? builds. I would like everybody's input and personal opinion of necro builds. Also, i might become a warrior, so any of your favorite warrior builds are welcome.

Bleh I tried Necro/Warrior. I'd advise against it personally. I found that I kept dying cause you have to be within arms reach to use most of the warrior skills and weapons. At least with the ranger you're a safe distance away.

this beta however I used a Necro/Mesmer and I bloody well loved it. Mainly for the mesmers abilities to fubar others energy, and the necros ability to suck life. I had a 'tank' or as much of one as you can get for that class. I died very little so long as I had energy, since I could draw life right out of fallen comrades and the enemies themselves while unleashing the mesmer spells.

I agree. I played a N/Me this beta as well and loved it. Dying was pretty rare, and overall I had alot of fun. I used the Necro's Blood spells and a curse or two here and there, and Mes spells i used were Conjure Phantasm, mana steal, and life steal when necessary(only cost 5 mana, and healed more life than Vampiric Gaze, sry can't remember their names). Once you get your hexes going your life starts going up and theirs starts going down, and unless you're severly outnumbered there usually isn't much that can be done to you PvE. Very stable build from what I saw. I made it further with my lvl 5 N/Me than I could with my lvl 8 R/Mo, and had more fun at the same time.

I ended up making it to lvl 9 with the N/Me, finished several of the missions post-searing, but didn't make it far enough to see how effective the build is in end-game.

If you liked the necro, and want to give the warrior a try, I'd suggest a w/n build. You can tank, and raise minions from the enemies you kill. Couple a warrior with death magic skills and you're basically a one person army.

I haven't tried the N/Me, but my favorite build is Me/N... well, more so for the looks than anything else since I'm not crazy about fast cast. Unleash phantasm, backfire (or phantom pain for melee), a little dash of different hexes and let my minions go wild.

Necro/Warrior

Nascent, just cast Life Siphon on a few guys, and you'll be able to survive for quite awhile if your able to maintain it, and use Vampiric Touch every change you get. I went up against 4 stone golems at level 7 with NP.

The bonuses of Necro/Warrior

1) You can survive for quite awhile, if you use your skills correctly. Heck, you dont even have to hit the enemies if you use Life Siphon, just maintain it on multiple opponents and watch em die while YOU gain health.

2) Good damage, surpisingly good. At level 8 I was doing over 40dmg with Vampric Touch and over 30 with Vampiric Gaze, when you throw in life siphon and sever artery, your doing ALOT of stable damage.

3) Oh c'mon, how cool is a Necro/Warrior? Very cool, reminds me of a Sith. Dark armor, wicked swords, scars, red hair. The nickname "Blood Knight". 15/10 on the coolness scale .

Personally, id focus most of your points into Blood Magic and your weapon skill. Forget minions, their pretty useless IMHO, not to mention hard to maintain.

I tried a Necro/Warrior (Pvp character creation) and I was surprised to see it's quite good (or my opponents this BWE were weak )
I used Sever Artery, Gash, Galrath's slash, Hamstring, Virulence, Plague touch (look
here if you wonder who gave me the idea to use those skills ) and Soul feast.

Ya I started a NecroMesmer this last weekend, and I think they are a good complement.

Steal Health
Steal Mana
Steal Health
Steal Mana
Steal Health
Raise Bone Horror
Repeat.

I played a Necro/Monk build this last beta, this was my first time playing GW too. I didnt put too much time into it, i did get to level 10. Personally I really liked this combination, stealing health just rules all and being able to heal those in my party ended up helping a lot. I also tried Ranger/Warrior but didn't have as much fun with that... I'm looking forward to trying Necro/Mesmer when the game comes out, along with some others.

Yes and make sure you are necro PRIMARY obviously a superior choice with 2 and 3 second casts. SYIR
